Many German universities will lose subscriptions to Elsevier Journals

Around 200 German universities will lose their access to Elsevier journals in the coming weeks, because negotiations have been unsuccessful to end a long-term contract dispute. Since 2015, the conflict between Elsevier, the world’s biggest publisher of scientific journals, and Germany’s entire university system has been continuing. Subsequently, academics in the country lost subscription to Elsevier content near the beginning of this year, but it was later resolved while contract talks recommenced.
