According to a new research published in the journal Cell, scientists demonstrate that they can reveal the activity of neurons in the brain of mice by targeting on fluorescent molecules whose brightness directly responds to subtle electrical changes in neurons. This technique could allow neuroscientists to stimulate and visualize the activity of neurons within the brain each second and link them to specific behaviors. The research not only paves the way to understand how neurons process signals from other neurons but also describes how neurons’ calculation changes over time.
