Scientists at Cambridge University have found a new method that would help grow and transplant artificial bile ducts to be used in future to help treat liver disease in children. The development would reduce the need for liver transplants. The researchers grew a 3D cellular structure which developed into normal, functioning bile ducts once transplanted into mice. The research was published in the journal, Nature Medicine.
