CT screening can save lives as well as money

newscapsule-30-06A new research, published in the Journal of Thoracic Oncology, suggests that lung cancer screening could be cost-effective, particularly if it is also able to identify other tobacco-related conditions in high-risk people. Authors of the study, a Canadian multidisciplinary team, suggest that a combination of CT screening for multiple conditions, and efforts to stop smoking and manage the treatment of non-cancer heart and lung disease, could make screening even more cost-effective.
