200 German institutions and libraries are boycotting the most renowned journal publisher Elsevier to secure fair pricing and open access to academic journals. The coalition started the process under the name” Projekt DEAL” and proposed a publish&read model which would publish all articles under CC-BY license and the pricing will be based on an adequate article processing charge (APC). Springer Nature and Wiley have already agreed to the proposal, but Elsevier is holding out.

A new snake fossil has been spotted in the Tennessee sinkhole that is believed to be dated back to 5 million years. An in-depth study of the fossils indicated that the particular snake species was extinct and in turn presented an important link in the evolutionary history of snakes.
